Soundtrack intermittently cutting when playing back from HDD on tv

When I play back the exported video from my hard drive on tv, the soundtrack keeps cutting off at random intervals. If I hit the fast forward or back button, the sound becomes audible again, but it keeps happening over and over again. My export settings are set to MP4, Codec H.264, bitrate 5000Kbps if that helps.

Is the video playable on your PC and its monitor directly using VLC player?
If yes, the exported video is actually fine. The problem does not matter which profile you use to export the video, but on the playback with your TV.
Which player you use to play the video on the TV?
You can also try play the video on PC and use HDMI cable to connect and display the screen on TV.

QC 2.0 Thanks for your reply. Yes, it plays fine directly from my laptop. I just find it easy and convenient to have my exported videos on a small external harddrive which I then plug into the USB slot of the tv... Useful when I'm visiting friends and family to just have the hdd in my pocket and not have to bring laptop etc... Maybe there are some better (faster) HDDs that I could try to avoid the soundtrack problem.
