Sketch Animation overlays can no longer be edited under new version 24.6.1829.0
Brian Lightfoot
What happened to any of the Sketch Animation overlays such as "Sketch Animation 01"? When placed on the timeline and selected, there no longer appears the Blue Edit button.
The overlay appears in the preview window and can be resized there but that is the limit of any editing. Even hitting F2 to bring up the Advanced Editing Window does not work.
If you right click on the selected overlay in the preview window, normally there is an menu item "Edit" which would give an option to "Modify" or hit F2, but those options are all greyed out.
See the attached screenshot.
I have reverted back to the previous version 1727 until CyberLink fixes this.

OK, I figured out what is happening. Beginning with this latest update v24.6.1829, PowerDirector has been slimmed down quite a bit. They have removed the Paint Designer, the Shape Designer, the Sketch Designer, Library Preview, and AI Copilot features. I also recently found out that you can no longer fill out a support ticket. All your problems are supposedly answered online by chatting with an AI.
So this means that the user can no longer edit the overlays to change colors, thickness, playback, and other aspects that were freely available in the previous version. I hadn't gotten around to checking out those other features that were removed but I would have noticed sooner or later. And quite frankly, I could give a rat's ass about AI Copilot being removed. It was outdated and often wrong. I found chatgpt to be much more knowledgeable and reliable.
It's interesting that CyberLink claims that the move is to "streamline" the program but in the meanwhile, they add the "Auto Reframe" feature in this new update. I wonder how many users actually need to have that much less will actually use it.

Brian Lightfoot, so in reality when you buy the subscription you never really know what you’re getting. So happy to at least have V20 download. V19 was the best ever but 20 is still solid and it’s the same product in the morning as it is at night.

BarryTheCrab 6000+ posts since PD5 - Yup, I agree. It was "entertaining" to watch CyberLink fully commit themselves to AI but now with the disappearance of a formal support procedure, this make me wonder how many employees are still working there. And remember, a subscription promises "priority support". I guess that's gone also. Aw, we should have all seen the end coming when the old forum was taken away and replaced by this new useless forum.

I have a subscription Brian Lightfoot , and after the first few weeks of trying and fiddling I’ve not opened it. I use 20.
