Powerdirector is laggy

I have been using power director for about a year now. No problems, I like what is does and it was fairly easy to pick up. I have not changed any of the settings and yesterday it started getting really laggy, then it started to buffer my videos to optimize performance.
I had no issues with the program prior to yesterday afternoon. Is there a setting that I changed on accident or ??? I am at a loss.
I have seen some posts about shutting down the audio and just using video during the editing process. I kind of need them both at the same time.
Again, up until yesterday afternoon all was good. Any help offered is appreciated?
BTW I updated everything that I can find, just to make sure all is current. I have also optimized my drives and so on. I am at a loss, please help.

Same thing has started happening today after I installed the latest update. My computer is more than powerful enough for cyberlink and had no problems whatsoever with preview editing before the update. Is it possible you updated the program yesterday or it autoupdated and then this started? That's what happened in my case.

PD starts the buffering?
It sounds like you might enable the option to render the preview on timeline or enable the proxy file options.
These two options are located at pd preferences > general and performance pages respectively, try disable them and relaunch pd to check out.
I'm not sure if your CPU/GPU and RAM are fully capable running the editing tasks, sometimes if there are large scale of windows update at background, it might also paralyze the performance of the PC generally.
And, don't forget to close Chrome to release some RAM usage if there are large amount of webpages opened in the browser.
