PowerDirector Subscription
Michael Küpper
I used the subscription version of PowerDirector until about a year ago and then canceled the subscription because I was tired of having to keep looking for features after some updates that were easy to find the previous day. In addition, it happened from time to time that the functionality suffered after updates. That's why I bought a lifetime version of PowerDirector 21 and everything is good.
Now I wanted to test a project that I had created with the 365 version (back then corresponding to version 22). That didn't work (error: “This project was built with a newer version of PowerDirector...”) I bought the “PowerDirector 2024" (--> PowerDirector 22 Ultimate) version separately.
Support then told me that projects created with the subscription version can only be opened and edited with the subscription version, but by no means with the lifetime version. Conclusion: Once a subscription, always a subscription...

This isn't really accurate. It is not about whether it was edited in a subscription version. It is about once you save a project in a specific version, let's say version 23.3, you cannot edit it with an older version. Whether it is Powerdirector 22 Ultimate or Powerdirector subscription 23.2.
So unforunately it makes sense you can't edit a Powerdirector 22 subscription project in Powerdirector 21.

It really is accurate. The subscription and the perpetual never have the same release version, even when new, the perpetual lags. So, once created in subscription, one can never utilize in perpetual as it's always a older release. Perpetual really gets no updates anymore either.
This guy did conversions for many on the old forum successfully as shown here: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/49811.page#post_box_262060 I don't believe such talent is around on this new forum, the knowledgeable all left.

Jets 2011 Yes, unfortunately it is correct. German support wrote it that way to me. Version 22 Ultimate (Lifetime) that I bought cannot open projects created with version 22 (365). Reason: the 365 versions are more extensively equipped than the lifetime versions.

C Fooker, JL_JL was absolutely the smartest person posting on the original better-by-far forum. Jeff was a detail-oriented no bullshit guy. He kept notes, tables, lists, and had near total recall. Drivers, graphics, mother boards, bugs, fibs, fabrications, all sorts of stuff seemed to be at his immediate arsenal to put Cyberlink on the hot seat. Now...what is this...?
