Yes, can't work properly at all. Clicking on sound once already crashes, or suddenly the entire video material is black, then crashing. I've never had it this extreme before?

So for me, the latest version is 24.0.804.0...
And Power Director smears it off at least once!
According to the event viewer...” The program PDR.exe version 24.0.804.0 has stopped interacting with Windows and has been closed.”
It never happened before!

it won't allow me to log in - says I need to "upgrade" when I already have a subscription. If I use the "free" version just to get stuff done, it doesn't allow me to save or render...

I totally get your frustration. I have called PowerDirector every day about this. Polite folks, but just ask me to take a bunch of steps and nothing gets done. I sent this message below today (and similar ones earlier this week). I paid for a one year subscription to the Mac version of PD.
Ever since PowerDirector created an update to my software, the program does not recognize my log in. When I log in it says I need to use an upgraded version to access powerdirector. When I try to "upgrade" and re-enter my username and password, the program shuts down. It gives me an option to use the "free" version (even though I have already paid for my subscription). The free version is not allowing me to save or render videos.
This has been impacting me for the past week - since your software update on 8/5/25. Before then, PowerDirector was working fine for me.
I am fed up - just want a subscription to work. I am not asking for anything free. If necessary, please give me a new subscription and I will give you a new email. You can date the subscription to end when my current subscription would have ended anyway.
Just make it work. This has cost me a lot of time and money and wasted 7 days. I have spoken to most people in your support team - Ken, Dom, Lilian, and a few others. All polite, and all asking me to take several steps. I'm not sure I need to put in more effort - you know I have a paid subscription - just make it work with a new subscription if necessary!!!
