Bring back the old Layout settings

I find the new Layout windows more uncomfortable and annoying, especially the dual screen window. I have a double screen and I have always found it very convenient to use the program seeing the preview on the second screen, but now the only setting of that type forces you to keep a second preview window on the main screen, or (even worse) to move the timeline vertically, which I find very uncomfortable. I don't think it costs anything to put back the previous layouts, so I give this advice

I also find the new layout awful. You can do something like that because of me. But why not give the user the choice that he can set whether he wants to use the old or new layout?

I can always undock the preview window and drag it to secondary screen.
Just right click on the free space at the preview playback control bar and select the dock/undock option.
See if it fits your need.
And, I think the dual screen option you mentioned is an ancient feature before the docking/undocking feature incorporated, and it was for old PD version users to divide the preview window for playback on secondary monitor.
I don't really like its design. but the dock/undock option is more convenient.

Just tried that and it works great. Function was not lost, just moved to a new location.
I like the dual screen function also, but the undock and move a bit better for me.
