Download vs box with activation code

I'm considering PowerDirector + PhotoDirector Ultra 2025. There is an option for download or for a box with activation code. I've looked up the differences online but cannot find a simple pro and con discussion. For example, one web site said codes are passe and not necessary. Another said codes are needed to maintain security. Any recommendations would be welcome. Thanks.

TL;DR: Go to the download version, and keep the installer files locally after you downloaded.
Frankly, I won't recommend box version at all.
The help documents of the software have already changed to online web version, no physical copy of it. It has been years.
And, if my memory serves, even in the box version, it is not necessarily shipped with an installation disc. The installer is in digital version form and you need to download it online via activation code.
The box just wraps download instruction and activation code (perhaps a download card) in the physical package, and basically nothing more. Its main value is the package if you wants to collect something on your shelf.
