I place one or two audio only tracks at the top. I add and work with video only tracks beneath them to reduce vertical screen space. The most recent update added an audio track to every one of my existing 20+ video tracks. I understand creating new video only tracks then moving all to those new tracks is possible. That risks unsyncing portions. I also understand grouping everything before moving is possible, but working with tracks afterward requires ungrouping the tracks. I already have select segments grouped and grouping/ungrouping all to move the tracks will result in ungrouping the segments I have specifically grouped: How can I remove the audio portions of tracks.

I don't know if this will work in bulk for your situation, but...
Try locking just the video tracks (with the padlock icon in the track list).
Select everything in the tracks to change and then delete (you, of course, have a backup of your project!).
Lastly, use the "Remove Empty Tracks" in the Right-Mouse Menu on the track list area.
